Appoint Yunus Jeju as Minister of Health and Social Protection

Prof. Younis Bijiju has been appointed as Minister of Health and Social Protection in the government of Fatima Zahra Al Mansouri. In Jeju, the son of the city of Taza, he is 55 years old and counts against the party of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces, which he represents within the government majority.

He has been the Managing Director of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health since 12 July 2023, and the Managing Director of the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation since 9 September 2022. He is also Professor of Higher Education Grade C at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Rabat. He previously held the positions of Head of the Anatomy Department, Director of the Anatomy Formation and Research Unit, and Head of the Laboratory of Experimental and Microsurgical Surgery.

Bijiju also served as Vice-Chancellor of the Zahrawi International University for Health Sciences, in charge of academic affairs, from September 2016 to September 2022. He is a founding member of the African Academy of Health Sciences and its Permanent Secretary since November 2025, in addition to his membership in the Royal Moroccan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Moroccan Society of Breast Diseases. The new minister holds a doctorate in medicine, a specialization in gynecology and obstetrics, and a university diploma in medical pedagogy from the Faculty of Medicine in Rabat. As well as a degree in leadership and management in a complex environment and an executive master in health management and policy from the Institute of Political Science in Paris.
