Election of two new chairmen of the two committees in the House of Councillors after changing the positions of the teams

During a plenary session held on Tuesday, the House of Councillors elected two new presidents for each of the Justice, Legislation and Human Rights Committee, and the Interior, Territorial Collectivities and Infrastructure Committee. According to what was published by the "Likum" website, Abdul Rahman Abila, from the National Rally of Liberals team, was elected president of the Justice, Legislation and Human Rights Committee, while Abu Bakr Obaid, from the Socialist team, was elected president of the Interior Committee, the territorial groups and the infrastructure.

I got the only list of candidates, announced by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Councillors, Hassan Haddad, on 50 votes out of 55 votes cast, while the number of canceled votes reached five.

Haddad explained, at the beginning of the session, that this election came after the formation of the new government, and the resulting change in the position of the components of the Council between the majority and the opposition, which necessitated the adaptation of the structures of the Council to the requirements of exercising the constitutional rights granted to the opposition. He pointed out that the chairmanship of the Justice, Legislation and Human Rights Committee is allocated to the opposition, under rule 99 of the Council's rules of procedure. وتطبيقاً لأحكام الفصل 69 من الدستور.

وذكر حداد أن التشكيلة الحكومية الجديدة أفضت إلى انتقال فريق التجمع الوطني للأحرار إلى المعارضة، فيما لم يعد الفريق الاشتراكي منتمياً إليها.
